Cheryls first entry into her Journal...

Aug. 31st, 2014

"So, I have been diagnosed with the big "C". It sucks. It has been an emotional roller coaster and I haven't even started treatment yet.

I was diagnosed on July 31st with cancer from my lymphnode biopsy. This was the day before I left for vacation to visit my family in New York. My heart said go to New York and be with family anyway, and so we did. When we returned, I was told that I was stage 3. Putting a number with the stage really had a great impact on me. It made it very real. My husband and I went out to breakfast while Logan was in school. Coffee was not cutting it so I ordered a beermosa with my omelet. Shawn and I were able to lighten the mood. Because the doctors felt a tumor in my urethra, I was diagnosed with urethral cancer, which is very rare. I just had my second biopsy a few days ago and we are waiting for the results. I've also undergone a PET scan and an MRI. All of these were needed before I could start treatment.I will hopefully meet with a Radiation Oncologist this week.

I am thankful for my family and my friends for being my support. I am thankful for all the prayers that are being sent my way.  There is so much going on at once, it is very hard for me to put all of my emotions into this. I have been going from doctor to doctor and surgery to surgery. The hardest part is thinking of how this affects Logan, my son. It is not fair to him. He is 6 years old and that is what gets me and makes it difficult."
